During the 1st Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, 11 sessions took place and resolution for each was passed with a huge majority. I am glad to inform you that one of the resolutions has been implemented in the state of Maharashtra. In the same manner, the 2nd Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad will facilitate deliberations, dialogues and interactions centering on number of issues of regional, national and international significance in forthcoming student parliament.

Galvanizing the youth around the issues of immediate concern is a huge responsibility that has to be shared by the Government as well as the private sector. Therefore, the Ministry of Higher Education is actively involved in making this Student Parliament a reality. I firmly believe, this collaborative effort involving Ministry of Higher and Technical Education; Ministry of Youth & Sports Affairs, Government of Maharashtra  and MIT School of Government will certainly be a step forward in educating today's student leaders on different issues of immediate concern and bringing them on a common platform.

Rajesh Tope
Minister of Higher & Technical Education,
Govt. of Maharashtra

The success of the 1st Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad has really highlighted the need to enthuse our youth to rise for the national cause. It is not that simple or easy to mobilize youth for causes that demand the willingness to be aware of the issues in the society and the problems and crises the nation is going through. But MIT School of Government has made it possible to get together 8000 youth and facilitate intellectual churning over some serious issues.

It has been observed that in today's times, the youth are not as exposed to debate and discussion as my generation was exposed. In spite of having a plethora of television channels and news papers the emphasis seems to be more on entertainment and non-issues. The real issues have become secondary. The Maharashtra Government has always been in the forefront in its commitment for the development of youth as they are the pillars of the future.

If such efforts are coming from some quarter of the society, the Government will gladly extend its helping hand. And I believe that the efforts of civil society, and Government can mutually progress in the desired direction. I extend my well wishes to MIT School of Government for the successful conduct of the 2nd Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad.

How it Works

The event: Students who have made their mark in their respective colleges and some of the distinguished leading lights of society gather for a three day parliament/conclave in which a great volume of ideas are exchanged. Discussions are held on specific topics and participating students speak, discuss, ask questions and vote on several resolutions. The outcome is passed on to important leaders and forums for their information and use.

The student leaders get a fabulous opportunity to brush shoulders with their peers from all across the country.

They get an opportunity to give expression to their thoughts and preferences on a platform of national stature.

They get the previlage of being directly addressed by some of the leading lights of the nation and the world of today.

It takes inspiration for youngsters to think beyond themselves, set their goals high, to learn to believe in their abilities... that they may work to bring glory to themselves, their dear ones and their nation. The Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad provides the perfect platform for igniting their minds.

Distinguished personalities who are leading lights in society get an opportunity to directly address the cream from colleges all across the country and there by impact the future challenges of the nation. By sharing their thoughts, experiences and passion with the cream of the upcoming generation they plant seeds of inspired thought into young minds with the hope that these can bear multi-fold fruits for the nation and the world in the time to come.

Others too benefit: When these thoughts and thoughts of young student leaders are dissiminated far and wide through other media there arises the promise of a casceding impact across the country.
